About this course

This is the first course amongst the set of two of courses which aligns with SharePoint Server 2013 IT Pro certification exam. This particular course gives the understanding of knowledge and skills needed for the configuration and management of a Microsoft® SharePoint Server 2013 environment and will also be providing guidelines, best practices, and considerations which helps in optimizing a SharePoint server deployment.

Audience profile

The course audience can be IT Professionals who wants to learn installation, configuration, deployment and management of SharePoint Server 2013 either in the data center or the cloud.

The candidate should have more than four years of experience in planning and maintenance of SharePoint core technologies on which SharePoint depends which includes Windows Server 2008 R2 or later.

The course audience should possess:

  • Knowledge of planning, implementing, and maintaining a multi-server deployment of SharePoint Server 2013.
  • hands-on experience with SharePoint Online.
  • Knowledge of SharePoint workloads.
  • Experience in business continuity management which includes data backup, restoration, and high availability.
  • Experience with authentication process and technologies related to security
  • Experience with Windows PowerShell.
  • Hands-on or job experience in a solutions space covered by SharePoint which includes management of document, content and search.

 

Secondary audience for this course will be Business Application Administrators (BAAs) who engage themselves in administration line-of-business (LOB) projects along with internal business customers.

Entirely new administrators for SharePoint environment will also gain benefit from course, but it is recommended first they got familiarize with basic concepts of SharePoint platform.

Module 1: Introduction to SharePoint Server 2013

Microsoft SharePoint Server 2013 is a document storage and collaboration platform offering benefits to organizations. In this module we will be discussing core features of SharePoint 2013 new features added in this version, and features that which are removed. We will also see a farm deployment’s basic structural elements and how they fit together. At last we will see the different deployment options available in SharePoint 2013.

Module 11: Taxonomy management

To organize information and make them easily founded and to work with they can be categorized. Microsoft SharePoint 2013 provide functionality of metadata, to organize the content and make it easier to work with. For implementing metadata, a defined taxonomy that is standardized through stakeholder input can be used which enables users to select metadata terms from a predefined list, providing standard results.
