This module lays the groundwork. You will learn what AI actually is, how it compares to human intelligence, and where the technology has come from. The goal is to move past vague definitions and build a concrete mental model of how AI systems are constructed and how they operate.

This is the most immediately practical module for most participants. It maps out where AI is already embedded in professional and personal life, and evaluates where it works well and where it falls short. You will look at real applications, not hypothetical ones.

Prompt engineering is where theory meets practice. This module teaches you how to structure your inputs to AI tools so you get better, more consistent outputs. You will work through hands-on exercises with tools like ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, learning to refine your prompts for clarity, accuracy, and usefulness.

This module covers the real-world ethical, societal, and security concerns that come with deploying AI systems, and walks through governance frameworks and global regulations that are shaping how AI gets used.

The AIE program includes 23 hands-on labs spread across the five modules. These labs cover practical work with tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, DALL-E, AI audio generators, Copilot, Notion AI, and Zapier AI. You will practice writing and refining prompts, automating tasks, evaluating AI outputs for accuracy and bias, and identifying deepfakes.

The labs are designed around transferable skills. Rather than teaching you to use one specific product, they build the kind of AI interaction patterns that work across any tool you encounter.
