Most cloud courses assume you already work in IT. This one does not. AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials is for people who need to understand the AWS Cloud without belonging to a technical role: sales, legal, marketing, business analysts, project managers, AWS Academy students, and other IT-related professionals.

In one day you cover what AWS is and why organizations use it, how its global infrastructure is laid out, and what the core services do in compute, networking, storage, and databases. You learn the shared responsibility model and the main security services. Then you cover the money side: how AWS pricing works, how billing and consolidated billing function, and what the AWS Support plans offer. The last modules cover migration, the AWS Cloud Adoption Framework, and the AWS Well-Architected Framework, and the day ends with the basics of the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner exam.

The course uses presentations, demonstrations, and knowledge checks rather than hands-on labs. It also helps you prepare for the Cloud Practitioner exam, which is booked separately.

This course helps you prepare for the AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner (CLF-C02) exam. The course is not the exam, and the exam is booked and paid for separately.

According to AWS's exam guide, the exam is for people who can show overall knowledge of the AWS Cloud, independent of a specific job role. The target candidate has up to 6 months of exposure to AWS Cloud design, implementation, or operations.

Questions: 65, made up of 50 scored questions and 15 unscored ones that are not identified during the exam
Format: multiple choice and multiple response
Scoring: a scaled score from 100 to 1,000, with 700 as the minimum to pass. You only need to pass the exam as a whole, not each section
Duration: 90 minutes
