Course Overview

A single agent handles one task within a defined boundary. Ask it to coordinate a workflow spanning several domains, hold shared state across steps, and stay within a cost budget while doing it, and the limits show quickly. This course is about what comes next.

In one intensive day, you will learn to design and deploy multi-agent systems using Amazon Bedrock Strands and AgentCore. It opens with the honest case for multi-agent architecture, when it earns its complexity and when a single agent is still the right answer, then moves through the communication patterns agents use to coordinate, the agent-as-tool pattern for production, and memory and state management across a system rather than a session.

Context engineering gets its own module, treating context as the finite resource it actually is, with compression and optimization techniques and tool design that does not waste it. From there the course turns to production concerns: identity and access management, policy-based access control through the AgentCore Policy Engine, VPC integration and network security, distributed tracing across agents, AgentCore evaluation, enterprise observability integration, and audit trails for compliance. It closes by applying the AWS Well-Architected Framework to agentic systems and assessing production readiness.

Instructor demonstrations run as a continuous thread. You will follow the construction of intelligent financial agents across three tasks: building a personal budget assistant with Strands Agents, designing a multi-agent system for complex financial analysis, and deploying production-ready agents with Amazon Bedrock AgentCore.

What you will learn

  • Analyze which scenarios genuinely require a multi-agent architecture
  • Describe the primary multi-agent communication patterns and where each applies
  • Configure agent-as-tool patterns for production deployments
  • Implement memory sharing and context management strategies for production workloads
  • Design context compression and optimization mechanisms
  • Optimize resource usage and manage cost across multi-agent systems
  • Configure policy-based access control using the AgentCore Policy Engine
  • Implement VPC integration for secure agent deployments
  • Implement distributed tracing and monitoring across multi-agent systems
  • Establish agent evaluation frameworks and enterprise observability integration
  • Establish audit trails and compliance monitoring
  • Integrate agentic systems with production APIs and services
  • Design deployment strategies and assess production readiness

Who Should Attend This Course?

  • AI and machine learning engineers building production agent systems
  • Software developers working on advanced AI applications on AWS
  • Cloud and solutions architects designing multi-agent architecture patterns
  • Platform engineers responsible for IAM, VPC, and observability around AI workloads
  • Engineering managers overseeing the move from agent prototypes to production

This course suits organizations moving past single-agent pilots toward systems that have to be secure, observable, and cost-controlled.

Prerequisites

AWS recommends completing the following before attending:

You should also have prior hands-on experience with AWS and generative AI, and be comfortable with production application development. This is the most advanced course in the AWS agentic AI track, and it assumes you have already built agents and now need to run them at scale.

❓ Frequently Asked Questions

When the work spans distinct domains that each need their own tools, context, and reasoning, or when tasks must run in parallel, or when one agent's context window cannot hold everything the job requires. Multi-agent design brings real costs in coordination, latency, and debugging difficulty, so the first module deliberately covers single-agent limitations before the patterns, because knowing when not to use this architecture matters as much as knowing how.

A managed capability within Amazon Bedrock for building, operating, and scaling production AI agents. It handles agent orchestration, policy-based access control, evaluation, and secure deployment, and integrates with IAM, VPC networking, and observability tooling. It is the deployment target for most of what this course covers.

An AWS SDK for building agents in code. In this course, Strands is what you build with and AgentCore is what you deploy and operate with. The instructor demonstrations use both together, starting with a single Strands agent and finishing with a production AgentCore deployment.

That course is three days and covers the whole generative AI production stack: foundation model selection, RAG, vector databases, prompt governance, safety, and enterprise integration, with agents as one component. This course is one day and goes deep on multi-agent systems specifically, including communication patterns, shared memory, context engineering, and multi-agent observability. They complement each other rather than overlap heavily.

Yes. AWS names two prior courses, and this is a single advanced day that assumes you already know what an agent is, how AgentCore works, and how to build one. Attendees arriving without that background typically spend the day catching up rather than learning the multi-agent material.

Yes, and it suits private delivery particularly well. The IAM, VPC, observability, and governance content can be discussed against your organization's actual security standards and monitoring stack, which is more useful than working through generic examples.
